Tama (bobbins) and tama counterweights.
Tama are weighted bobbins that hold your threads while braiding.
Most braids are braided in multiples of 8
(8 strand braids, 16 strand braids, etc.). Each tama needs to be counterweighted by a weight placed in the counterweight bag.
Choose from different weights and sizes to fit your needs.
How much counterweight to use?
Simple - put one corresponding weight into the weight bag
for each tama!
8 tama - use 8 weights. 16 tama - use 16 weights, and so forth.

85 gram tama counterweights
Confused by how much counterweight to use while
braiding? We've come up with a simplified system. As one generally
uses half the weight of the tama as a counterweight, our counterweight
is approximately half the weight of each tama.
Simple - just put one corresponding weight into the weight bag
for each tama!
4 tama - use 4 weights: 8 tama - use 8 weights.
NOTE: Contains lead, NOT for children!
#104W - $6.50 for a set of eight |
