SOLID MAPLE MARUDAI

This is a nicely finished marudai at an attractive price.
The marudai is made of solid maple, the top or "mirror" is approximately 11 inches wide and will comfortably fit many bobbins. This marudai comes the standard 16" height, or a higher 24" height to use while sitting in a chair (your knees will thank you!).

SALE: we are working with a new woodworker, and are very pleased with his workmanship. However, a few of the first batch came in with more than the usual contrast in the wood grain on the mirror (bottom picture). Limited quantity, these marudai available for $10.00 less.

Tama (bobbins) and tama counterweights.

Tama are weighted bobbins that hold your threads while braiding. Most braids are braided in multiples of 8 (8 strand braids, 16 strand braids, etc.). Each tama needs to be counterweighted by a weight placed in the counterweight bag.
Choose from different weights and sizes to fit your needs.

How much counterweight to use?
Simple - put one corresponding weight into the weight bag for each tama!
8 tama - use 8 weights. 16 tama - use 16 weights, and so forth.

85 gram tama counterweights

Confused by how much counterweight to use while braiding? We've come up with a simplified system. As one generally uses half the weight of the tama as a counterweight, our counterweight is approximately half the weight of each tama.
Simple - just put one corresponding weight into the weight bag for each tama!
4 tama - use 4 weights: 8 tama - use 8 weights.
NOTE: Contains lead, NOT for children!

#1109 - $6.50 for a set of eight

20 gram tama counterweights

Same as above, but for use with the 20 gram tama
